Trick or Gingerbread Treat!

In the same way that Easter just isn't Easter without chocolate eggs, October 31st in the Strawberry Sister household just isn't Halloween without the smell of freshly baked gingerbread men ghosts and ghoulies,
oh and the odd mummy and skeleton...
BOO!

350g plain flour
175g light soft brown sugar
100g butter
2 eggs
2 tablespoons of golden syrup
1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
1 teaspoon of ground ginger

Add all of the ingredients to a mixing bowl and combine to form a pastry mix.

Roll out on a floured surface to no more than 1cm thick...

Start cutting out your shapes, they don't need to be perfect - especially for Halloween, a few broken bones make them all the more authentic!

Leave your skeletons/ghosts/zombies on a tray in the fridge for half an hour before baking for 10-15 minutes at 180°C.

Once cooled, ice!

*Warning do not hand out to trick-or-treaters, they're too yummy!

Caution! Skull Crossing...

With the help of some black ribbon, a whole lot of glitter and a transfiguration spell (magic wand required!), we managed to turn a Zara t-shirt into a Bethany Lowe headband... for a spooktacular Halloween outfit,
muhahaha!

Using Bethany Lowe's glittered skull headband as our inspiration, we started by gathering ribbon, glue and enough glitter to make Tinkerbell proud...

As we are only planning to wear this for Halloween, we used ordinary glitter glue. If you want to keep the t-shirt til' death do you part however, it's best to use glittery fabric glue or a glitter spray designed for clothing - as this will help keep it washing machine friendly.

We simply glued the skull all over - apart from the eye area, then sprinkled with glitter.

Our favourite part...

We then sprayed with hairspray to set the glitter, before adding our bow using superglue.
To finish, we sketched back in the nose and teeth details.
Et voilà! The prettiest skeleton this side of the underworld!!

We've had a Makeover!

As you may have noticed, we've had a little blog-over!
After almost giving up hope of finding a web designer with a pretty-in-pink vision, we knew we'd struck gold when we stumbled across Dana -
the creative brains behind Wonder Forest
She helped turn our sketches and ideas into reality... and we couldn't be more pleased!
Thank you Dana!!

Keep your eyes peeled for our first ever giveaway to celebrate!

Bloggers Battery Juice

Has writing a post ever kept you up so late that your eyes begin to fuzz?
So fuzzy that with each blink your eyes stay closed for a little while longer,
resulting in daydreams of taping them open Tom & Jerry style?
Do you ever feel that your ability to form literate sentences disappears,
or that your creativity dries up, leaving you staring at a blank page?
That with a final boost of energy you could be high-fiving yourself with a finished post,
that's so your best one yet?
Bloggers this one's for you!

We quite often find ourselves a little bit distracted (usually by Gossip Girl or twitter or Sam Pepper on YouTube or... er, you get the picture) and seriously suffering from a self diagnosed case of 'bloggers block'.
Our cure?
A late night, sugary, pick-me-up - served in a Camera Lens cup, obviously...

1 mug of milky coffee, left to cool
3 tablespoons sugar
3 tablespoons caramel sauce
125ml milk
enough ice to fill your blender
whipped cream

Fill your blender with ice, then pour in the coffee, milk, sugar and sauce.

Blend until smooth.

Serve generously, you'll want more, trust us...

Squirt on the whipped cream and finish with extra caramel sauce.

Caffeine fix, check.
Tiara, check...
blogger batteries recharged!
