Fudgie Wudgies

On our kitchen shelf, between the glossy faces of Jamie, Heston and Nigella, hides another recipe book.
One that's a little more dusty than the rest, with yellowing pages that have been stained by chocolate fingertips and splodges of ink...
One that can sometimes be forgotten for the bigger books with the prettier pictures.
One that you certainly won't find on the Amazon best sellers list...
But that one's the best one of them all.
Our family recipe book has been passed down generations and if you can keep a secret, we'll share with you our favourite.
Fudgie Wudgies!

Soft squishy brownie under a layer of deliciously gooey, chocolate slathered, melty marshmallow.
Fudgie Wudgies taste like campfire songs and toasted chewy yumminess,
a brownie meets a smore if you will.
We like to eat them warm from the oven with a champagne glass of ice cold milk...
Shhhhh... just don't tell anyone!

Add the butter, sugar, flour, salt, baking powder, eggs and vanilla to a mixing bowl...

Combine, adding in the chopped nuts.

Melt a large square of dark chocolate, then stir this in to the mixture...

Mix until all of the ingredients are well blended.

Spread the mixture evenly into a pan and bake for 35 minutes at 180°C

Spread mini marshmallows over the brownie base immediately after baking. Return to the oven for an additional 2-3 minutes until the marshmallows are toasted and squishy,
leave to cool completely.

Melt your milk chocolate chips and spread over cooled base.
Either eat warm and melty or pop in the fridge for the chocolate layer to harden...

Cut into slabs and serve!
