Strawberry Interiors: Urbanara

since spring is the season of cleaning
we've decided to give Strawberry HQ a bit of a makeover
and being the classy fruits that we are
we absolutely LOVE hamptons chic
so think distressed wood, pops of pastels and rustic furniture
handily we've found one cheeky website for all of our beachy interior needs:
every category had something to catch our eye meaning that
a few (perhaps a little more than a few) wish lists have been made.
so before we give you an official tour of the sissy pad,
here's a few of our top goodies we couldn't help but share with you fellow strawberries
(ps. the last category is guaranteed to make you squeal with satisfaction)

a hint of mint:

mint

while we love all pastel colours
there's just something a little extra beachy about mint
its pretty, its cool, it dominates the school
and by school we mean our house. mint is everywhere. it sees all.

wooden accessories:

wood

slate is soooooo over
2014 is the year of the wooden accessory
and we just can not get enough of the natural vibe
but you don't have to keep it all in the kitchen
we suggest spreading the rustic love around the whole house

nautical wicker:

beach

the most absolutely beachy items:
stripey towels, wicker furniture and anything with anchors
these are total
MUST HAVES
as in we must have them.
now.
please :)

STRAWBERRY STUFF:

strawb

any shop with strawberry items deserves some sort of award
we'll take two of each
so does that mean matching rooms?
sister room snap!

we hope these wish lists have inspired you by even a grain of sand
lol because beaches are made from sand.
and the hamptons has beaches.
and our house is like the hamptons.
BOOM!

Easterberry: Brunch

HAPPY EASTER
to all you fellow strawbs out there!
now we know you're probably pretty busy eating all your choccies
but we've got some fun stuff to share
now make sure you're sitting down
as we're about to let you in on some super sneaky recipes
that are both
*drumroll*
temptingly tasty AND heavenly healthy
yep we're bringing out the big guns here
it is easter after all!

WAHEY
THE EASTER BUNNY VISITED

1

as you've all been good little strawberries this year

beofre

we thought that you could see some extra top secret
piccies of our newly decorated dining room

cups

we know we know

naps

we could use some more pink

plats

our beverage of choice: juicey orange juice

orange

because what's brunch without some OJ

beth

we got that buffet feel going on

table

HELP YOURSELF
everyone

table2

to start we made personal breakfast cups,
with layers of grapes, alpro yoghurt and raisiny museli

yog

then onto a side of deliciously fresh and crisp salad

sal

with lettuce, cucumber, celery, tomatoes, chicken, cheese and mayo

sal2

rather than normal sandwiches
(side note: who wants to be normal)
we used slices of baguette as the bread for our tuna mayo and cucumber sarnies

sand2

but then we got feeling EVEN MORE creative
so decided to make some quinoa balls

balls

we used:
1 cup cooked quinoa
1 large cooked and chopped chicken breast
1/2 cup cheddar cheese
1/4 cup of breadcrumbs
1 beaten egg
2 tablespoons flour
a pinch of salt

then all you have to do is combine everything in a large mixing bowl and
scoop the mixture evenly out into a cupcake tray and
cook for about 20 minutes

apple

we just could not resist some sweet snacks too!
so popped some nutella along with our apple slices

muff

and some scrummy teeny-tiny blueberry muffins

flap

with perf-a-de-perf-perf flapjacks
that have the crispiest outsides and the gooeyest insides
AND they're simple enough for even the silliest strawberry

you'll need:
250g butter
100g brown sugar
6 tablespoons golden syrup
500g oats
1 banana

whack out your biggest mixing bowl and place in your butter and sugar
melt these together over some boiling hot water
then add in the syrup, banana and oats and
MIX IT ALL TOGETHER
bake for around 15/20 mins or until the top gets nice and crispy

table3

while you would think we were full
we still managed to make room for some bunny tasting after
because that's what easter is all about
oh you know and some dude that came back from the dead

Easterberry: Kew Gardens

oompa loompa, do-ba-dee-doo,
we've got the perfect location for you.
oompa loompa, do-ba-dee-dee
where you are likely to see a tree.

after a pretty magical time at Willy Wonka's afternoon tea
we just could NOT get the confectionery wizard out of our brains
luckily for us Kew Gardens are going through a similar obsession
as this easter they're running some pretty spesh chocolate inspired activites
safe to say we booked our tickets pretty soon after finding this out.

kewsign

we're off to see Mr. Wonka, the wonderful genius of choc

map

map2

first thing we noticed is that there's a lot of green everywhere

lake

and some pretty impressively scary statues

lion

but you know mostly the green thing

trees

these crazy giant mushrooms had us feeling like
Mr. Wonka had slipped us a shrinking potion!

shroom

but what a good excuse for an OOTD

bethshroom

OH NO
now silly Wonka's chocolate has us all super tiny!

bethshroom2

phew okay back to normal now guys
well as normal as two strawberries can get

garden

luckily it was quite a beaut day
so we could sit back and smell the flowers

palace

and boy were there a lot of flowers

pink

like they're not messing about with this whole gardening business
no siree

tree2

so we just gots be unleashing our inner child
and doing some cheeky log climbing
duh

bethclimb

the main event for us was chocolate decorating

chocsign

but we were not prepared for the queue. at kew.
lololololololol little bit of punny humour there

chocsign2

the event took place inside teepees

tp2

because coachella isn't the only hipster place this weekend
nah ah

tpin

beth attempted to create a strawberry
while emily went for a more artistic floral arrangement

choc2

it looks too good to eat

bethchoc

hmmmmmm
but on second thoughts...

chocbite

a hop skip and a jump away was the white peaks cafe

cafe1

where there's a tree!
okay so its not actually a real tree
but there's plenty of them outside, right?

cafetree

they served scrummy snacks

cafeood

crumbly cookies

cafef2

mini tubs of ice cream

cafef4

and THE cutest pick and mix stall,
which we totally drove into

cafef3

we somehow managed to restrain ourselves and each opted for
a hot chocolate and egg sandwich with apple juice and healthy snacks to share

lunch

BECAUSE SHARING IS CARING

plantroom

next we popped into the plant house

prbeth

where we really felt like we connected to nature

pr1

as we learnt about all our favy ingredients

prginge

and how they get from soil to stomach

pots

we popped downstairs to visit the seaweed

marine

and ended up bumping into Marlon
apparently Dory's gone missing
if you hear anything call this hotline number:
1800-omg-marlon-keeps-losing-people

nemo

can we borrow that water feature for our garden please?

housr

and by borrow we mean have and not give back

white

today has helped us to not only further our Willa Wonka obsession
but we've also actually managed to soak up some gardening tips

greenh

so thanks Kew for a lovely day!
hopefully we'll be seeing you and your greenery again soon x
